Our overdraft protection services, like Mechanics Overdraft Privilege Service, Account Protection Transfer, and Overdraft Protection Line, help keep you covered in the event that you overdraw your account.
Mechanics Overdraft Privilege Service (MOPS)*
Key features:
- Offered for eligible checking accounts
- You may avoid high charges from merchants for returned checks
- Mechanics may pay your occasional and inadvertent overdrafts up to $800 for personal accounts and $1,500 for business accounts
- Charge of $32 for each item that would create an overdraft
- An additional overdraft charge of $5 will be charged each business day that the account is overdrawn after thirty days
- MOPS is a discretionary service that you may opt out of at any time by notifying the Answer Center at 419-524-0831

Account Protection Transfer*
Key features:
- Sweep money from a Money Market or another checking to cover overdrawn funds
- You may avoid high charges from merchants for returned checks

Overdraft Protection Loan (OPL)*
Key features:
- Protect your checking account from being overdrawn with an unsecured loan
- Freedom of having a reserve fund at your command
- Charge of $5 for each advance from the loan
- Minimum advance of $50

What is an overdraft?
We do authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions:
- Checks, in-person withdrawals, ACH transactions, pre-authorized automatic transfers
- Automatic bill payments, internet banking transfers, telephone banking transactions
- Recurring debit card transactions
We do not authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions unless you ask us to:
- ATM transactions
- Everyday debit card transactions
If we do not authorize and pay an overdraft, your transactions will be declined.
If you want us to authorize and pay overdrafts on ATM and everyday debit card transactions, please complete the Opt In Consent Form.
If you have previously given consent to opt-in and would like to revoke authorization to pay overdrafts on ATM and everyday debit card transactions, please complete the Opt Out Consent Form.
